Baptism

We believe baptism is a defining moment in the life of a believer.  Baptism is a personal decision which demonstrates your faith and commitment to Christ in a public celebration, but more than that it represents your new life in Christ.  Below are a few questions to consider before going ALL IN.

Why?  We believe everyone who makes the decision to follow Christ must be baptized.  The reason is simple; Jesus himself was baptized but He instructed us to do the same thing (Matthew 28:18-20).  When we are baptized it helps others know that we identify ourselves as Christ followers.

How?  We believe in full-water baptism rather than sprinkling.  If you think about it, going completely under the water best represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:4).

Who?  We believe that faith must precede the decision to be baptized, so we do not baptize infants or young children (James 2:17-18).  So anyone who confesses Jesus is Lord should set the date and take the plunge.

When?  Baptism can take place any time, however most happen at the end of any Sunday service.  Just let the office when you would like to schedule your baptism and we will mark it on the calendar.  At the end of the service we will give you a few minutes to put on swim trunks and a t-shirt before baptizing you in the auditorium.

Small Groups

What is a Small Group:
Groups are really just the smaller side of Providence.  The Bible instructs us to do life with one another: we are to love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, serve one another, and show hospitality to one another.  Having said that, It’s hard to do life with one another during a Sunday morning service as one large group.

By meeting together in smaller groups we find the space not only to build friendships, but also to build one another up in faith.

What happens in a Small Group:
Most groups meet in homes (although some meet at the church) and typically meet for 90 minutes.  During group gatherings you can expect to share a meal, talk about life, discuss the Bible, and pray for one another.  And don’t worry if you are new to faith, Small Groups are a great place to ask questions whether you are a beginner or grew up going to church.

What Groups currently exist:
We have groups for couples, singles, women, and everything in between.  To find a list of current groups, stop by the Connection Center or contact Danny Batchelor using the following email address: danny@providencechristianchurch.com.

Serving

At Providence we believe 2 key truths about serving:

A) The church is the hope of the world, and

B) each one of us is uniquely gifted by God to advance His kingdom on earth.

As each person does their part, the opportunities for the church to grow increases!

Below is a list of Ministry Teams currently available at Providence.  If you are interested, email lorindabatchelor@icloud.com

Prayer Team: Prayer Partners spend time praying with people at the end of every service or they pray over private requests during the week.

Welcome Team: This team is responsible to greet guests at the front door and make them feel right at home, but it’s so much more than that.  The Welcome Team also included setting up fresh coffee and donuts, answering questions at the Connection Center, passing out the weekly Listening Guide, or serving communion during the service.  Take your pick of responsibilities.

KidCity Team: Investing in the next generation is the responsibility of our KidCity Team.  They show the love of God to our children in the nursery all the way through 5th grade.

SixTwoEight Team: Teenagers learn not only about putting their faith in Christ, but also how to live for Christ.  If you love teens, this could be the place for you.

Worship Team: Do you have a gift for playing an instrument or singing?  The Worship Team kicks off every service with songs of praise.  Additional practices are mandatory.

Audio/Visual Team: Lights and sound are a key element of the worship experience.  If you like designing or executing the production side of the service, this might be a great place to serve.

Small Group Leader: We believe Small Groups create a place for people to belong and grow.  We don’t teach, but we do facilitate discussion around the study of God’s Word.  Must be a Christ follower, available during the week, and willing to grow with others.
